Delete your INOU account

You can delete your INOU account and its data at any time. There are two ways to do it: from inside the app, which is immediate, or by writing to us.

Option 1 — Delete from inside the app (fastest)

1. Open INOU and make sure you're signed in.
2. Go to the Profile tab.
3. Tap Settings, then Delete account.
4. Tap Send verification code. We send a one-time code by SMS to the phone number on the account.
5. Enter that code and tap Permanently delete.

The code step exists so that nobody else can delete your account. Deletion begins straight away and you are signed out.

Option 2 — Ask us to delete it

If you can no longer open the app or access your phone number, email us and we'll do it for you:

Put "Delete my INOU account" in the subject line and tell us the phone number registered to the account. We will need to confirm that you control that number before we delete anything — this protects you from someone else deleting your account. We aim to complete requests within 30 days.

What gets deleted, and what is kept

Data	What happens
Your account and sign-in credentials	Deleted. You can no longer sign in.
Your profile — name, status, profile photo	Deleted.
The hash of your phone number used for contact matching	Deleted. You immediately stop being discoverable in anyone's contact list.
Your photos, videos and notes	Deleted from our active systems.
Your bubbles, and your membership of circles and events	Deleted.
Your connections to other people	Deleted, and you are removed from their contact lists.
Your likes and comments	Deleted.
Messages you sent to other people	Kept in the other person's conversation, in the same way an email you sent stays in the recipient's inbox. Where it isn't technically possible to remove it, it is disassociated from your identity as far as we can.
Backup copies	Purged on our routine backup rotation after deletion completes.
Records we are legally required to retain	Kept only for as long as the law requires, and for no other purpose.

Deleting some data without deleting your account

You don't have to delete your whole account to remove things.

In the app, you can delete data yourself at any time:

• Delete an individual photo, video or note — open it and choose Delete.
• Delete a comment you wrote.
• Remove your profile photo, name or status from the Profile tab.
• Leave a circle or an event, which removes you from its member list.
• Remove people from your bubbles, or disconnect from someone entirely.

Or ask us to delete specific data for you. Email info@inouapp.com with the phone number registered to your account, and tell us what you'd like removed. We will confirm that you control that number first, then delete the data from our active systems, usually well within 30 days. Your account stays open and everything you haven't asked us to remove is kept.

This is your right to erasure under the GDPR. It, and your other rights over your data, are described in our Privacy Policy. Data removed this way is deleted from our active systems and purged from backups on our routine rotation; we keep only what the law requires us to keep.
